Task #22

Well that is a really cool website if you can find something that you really want to listen too. I did happen to find something that was really neat. It was 25 technologies in 50 minutes with Stephen Abram. I didn't listen to all of it but I got the first 3 technologies and it was all stuff that we have done on this challenge. I felt really good knowing that I had looked at those and knew what they were. YAAAAAAAAAA US!!!!!! Thank you Emily for teaching us some new tricks it has been really fun!

Task #21

Well I did find the articles on L2 interesting. Using technology to get more people into the library is defianetly a good idea. I do think it centers more on the younger people. Yes there are older people that do alot on computers but Teens are the ones that use it and grow with it everyday. They are the ones that in the future will still be using it and probably be using it more for everyday then we do now. We have to keep up with the new things in technology or we will all be really lost in the future. I know my mom still has to ask how to use the VCR sometimes, I just can't help but laugh and think that will be me asking for help with something in the future that my kids will have to show me how to work. Hey they even have a car now that will parallel park for you! Never thought I would see that! I would like to have one though because I do not do the parallel parking thing.

Task #20

I have to admit that I am one of the people that forget to tell our patrons about these great databases we have. I know I'm bad it just for some reason doesn't come to mind. I will try to do better on that in the future. I will say that I have used Novelist before. Some for patrons and some for my personal use. I am a big fiction reader and if there is a series I have to start at the very beginning and read every one of the books. Also certain patrons come up and want the rest of a series and I can look those up for them and if we don't have them do what we can to get them. Very handy! I looked at Ebsco some and it really does have alot of information that would come in handy. A little tricky to navigate at first but I got the hang of it.

Task #19

Ok I looked at Podiobooks and Librivox and they did have alot of books to download and I'm sure there are some people that would just love those sights since they are free. I personally didn't see anything that I normally read so for me to download audiobooks I would probably have to pay to get the the one I want. I tried listening to audiobooks before but I just can't keep my focus so by the time I get back to listening to the book I've missed alot. So I do not do the audio's. Like Rhonda I would rather be sitting on my couch wrapped up in a nice warm blanket and reading a good book.

Task #18

For christmas my 10 year old really wanted an IPod. Of course I wasn't about to spend 200 dollars on something so little and easily loosable or broken for a 10 year old. So I looked around and decided to start with something a little less expensive and see how he did with it. Then if he took care of it maybe next year or the year after he would get an IPod. Of course by then who knows what kind of new technology they will have out.
So he got his MP3 player for christmas and was very excited. Of course he wanted some songs downloaded on it(which I meant to do before christmas but never got around too). So christmas morning I'm on our computer while they are all in the other room opening and trying out their new games. I had no clue where to start with downloading so I got out the easy start instructional CD. Went through that in no time and easily figured out how to download whole CD's to the MP3 player. He was happy with that for the time so I called it quits for the day. I haven't yet gotten around to trying to download a song from anywhere else. I think that is going to be a little tricker but hopefully can figure out.
I'm really excited about getting my own MP3 player at the end of this challenge. I walk two miles a night(well at least 4-5 times a week)on my treadmill and this will be great to download good songs on to walk too.

Task #17

Ok I have decided I do not like Wiki's! I went to the NCPL Wiki and finally figured out how to post to the favorite Wiki's and was able to put down the one I had found that I liked. Well I thought I would be a little creative and add a little picture to it. That did not go too good! When I tried to add it all the Favorites disappeared! I have no idea what happened to them and I didn't know how to get them back. I emailed Catherine and told her to check it and see if they were on there. She couldn't find them either. IT WAS BLANK! Well Catherine is alot better with a computer then me so she looked around the history and was able to get them back up. YEAH! CATHERINE! So I do not think that will be a site I will be visiting and time soon. So if you find that your favorite Wiki is gone you can blame me and I am sorry!

FINALLY!

Ok I have been trying to get in my blog forever! It would never let me in, and I still had a very hard time with it this time but got lucky and it had pity on me at last!

I have completed several of the tasks in the past few weeks so I'll just put everything in this one posts since it may not be as nice to me next time.

Task #11-Librarything
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/sgsnewton
I of course am a huge James Patterson fan. His books are always exciting and they are quick and easy reads.

Task #12
Here is my delicious account
http://del.icio.us/sgsnewton
This was a very interesting site. I didn't have much time to do much exploring but I did find a few that I liked.

Task #13
I did complete this and have actually used messenger for some time. It is a really neat thing when you have the time sit down and do it.

Task #14
I really like the idea of the web-based applications. It saves lots of room on your computer and it will never get lost if your computer crashes. I could of really used that site a few months ago when I had to redo something that I lost on a floppy. Which I no longer use.

Task #15
I didn't really like any of the new search engines. They didn't give me the choices I was used too I guess and I got lots of things that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. I think I will just stick to yahoo. I know yahoo is old and alot of people don't like it but it's never failed me so I will continue to use it as my choice for searching.

Task #16
There were alot of good sites on the Web 2.0 awards but I have to say that Flickr is my favorite. It was easy to use and the pictures downloaded quickly. I also liked Youtube. It has a lot of different video choices and you can even watch the news!

Ok so I'm almost caught up and I will try again another day and hope and pray that this blogger will let me log in. I guess I will have to wait and see.
